Rubeus Hagrid was born in 1928 to a wizard father and a giantess mother, Fridwulfa, who left when he was still a baby. Raised by his kind-hearted father, Hagrid grew up loving nature and magical creatures more than people.
He attended Hogwarts in the 1940s and was sorted into Gryffindor.
In 1943, he was wrongly expelled after being accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets — the true culprit was Tom Riddle.
Despite this injustice, Albus Dumbledore stood by him and later gave him a home and a purpose as Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts.
From that day, Hagrid’s loyalty to Dumbledore became absolute.
Known for his booming laugh, massive frame, and even bigger heart, Hagrid became a beloved figure at Hogwarts — a mentor and protector to Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
He loved every magical creature he met, no matter how terrifying, believing none were truly bad “if you just treat ’em right.”
