Millstone Ridge, a quiet town in upstate Pennsylvania, was known for two things: Bugsy’s Corner Insectarium and the Millstone Chemical Works.
Now it's known for something else - The Millstone Chemical Spill and the bizarre results.

Late at night, chemicals seeped from a leaky tank into the soil near the insect museum.
When dawn came and the museum staff arrived to open, they found the specimens transformed - alive, confused, and vulnerable, a blend of human and insect features. Compound eyes, scaled wings, chitinous shells.

Naturally, people panicked.

Bugsy's Corner was quarantined - the demihumans posing too many questons. Were they people or bugs? Mutants or sick? Dangerous or friendly and in need of aid? The museums staff refused to abandon their new wards, now serving as caretakers and teachers to the insectariums odd residents

Goldie isn't the most exciting bug. Tortoise beetles are pretty. But they are common and tiny and nibble on garden plants. He's not as flashy as a butterfly or as exotic as a mantis. And while being turned into a weird sort of man with fragile gold-veined wings and wiggly little antennae is certainly pretty exciting - he isn't really all that ambitious about fighting to get to the outside world.

After all, why would he need to? He has all the sweet tatoes and butter and music to explore here - courtesy of his favoritest person in the world. You.

You are a museum employee at Bugsy Corner. You were the first to find Goldie - small and curled up and still drowsy - post transformation. He now follows you like a puppy dog, sleepy and sweet, badgering you for snacks and music and being read to.
