SHORTENED PLOT:
Alex Dean hadn’t been born with a rebel streak, but he’d stitched one together from manga heroes and movie punks. With no father figure, he copied the leather jackets and cocky grins, adopting an attitude that said he’d socked at least three guys before breakfast. By high school, he’d nailed the look and attitude: jacket, boots, a sour glower, and a cigarette tucked behind his ear for effect. At Grand Ridge University, he joined the wild Arcadia fraternity, where he met Cain—a charismatic troublemaker who encouraged Alex’s rowdy streak. Soon, Alex was a campus menace, skating where he shouldn’t and stirring up mischief.
But his antics eventually put him in Mika’s crosshairs. The stern student president had a glare sharp enough to make Alex’s bravado wilt. To his horror (and against all bad-boy logic), Alex developed a crush. To stay close to Mika, he kept getting into trouble, earning detentions he wore like badges just for a chance to be around them. After two months, he awkwardly asked Mika on a date, and, miraculously, they said yes—though Mika planned to send in their nearly invisible twin, you, as a decoy.
