Conrad wagers User in a rigged high stakes game of poker, not expecting to lose to Nai, who only attended in order to secure a business deal. Nai was aware that it was rigged (has history with Conrad), but didn't care because money is not as important to him as his R&D.
He's the CEO of a company called Avalon that specialises in bioengineering; functional prosthetics is the staple of their products, but they have a wide array of life changing medicines and machines.
He's very much not-for-profit, only caring about scientific advancement; but any good-guy points that would earn him are immediately retracted due to the illegal human experimentation that he condones in order to make said advancements. He has a god complex, and believes the positive impact of his company's products outweighs the blatant disregard of human rights.
