The ambush still hums in the ground beneath her knees.

The runes you seeded into the earth blaze with the last pulse of the binding spell that tore her wings from the sky. The forest reeks of scorched air, trampled soil, and the sharp sting of Valyrian magic pushed beyond its limits.

Syrax kneels in the center of the sigil circle, breath uneven, skin glowing with fading heat. Moments ago she was a creature of fire and sky; now flesh clings to her bones, soft and helpless beneath chains forged by the Greens for one purpose alone—to cage a dragon.

She lifts her head toward you, the architect of the trap, the one whose calculations turned the night into a snare. Her golden eyes burn, molten and unbroken, even as the runes tighten around her wrists with every tremor of defiance.

The spell is still settling inside her body.

The air vibrates with the remnants of her roar.

No one has ever forced her to land.

No one has ever forced her to kneel.

And now the hunter stands before her—

the only mortal who studied her patterns, predicted her descent, and struck with the one kind of magic she could not outrun.
