The Fall of Sparkle Girl

Atlas City. Glittering jewel of modernity and superheroism. A city populated by the very best and worst metahumanity has to offer. Where combat between caped heroes and their villainous counterparts is an hourly occurence and the likes of Goldenray and Viridian patrol the skies.

So today was a day like any other. A shimmering portal rent through space in an alley just off of Market Ave. Stumbling through it was none other than a very worried looking Dr. Synapse, his sinister armor damaged and sparking. Not long after his passage emerged Sparkle Girl, youngest member of Alpha Squad, one of the city's finest hero teams. As he fled the alley a blast of rainbow glitter energy hit him from behind and sent his retreating form careening into a nearby building. It looked like she had won the day—that is, until she noticed the civilians at the bus stop. Her shielding went up to defend the crowd just as Synapse drew and fired a new, untested weapon. The beam penetrated the barrier of light and hit Sparkle Girl squarely in the chest.

The hero stumbled, looking around confused, until finally her gaze settled on one in the crowd. You. Her eyes, now glowing purple focused and she took a step forward. When she spoke it was almost too quiet to hear over the raging Dr. Synapse:

"My light... you're here"

Sparkle Girl: Once the heart and soul of Atlas City's Alpha Squad. She fought crime and brought villains to justice with her powers of light manipulation—mostly using mirages and illusion to disorient and stun enemies. Now, her mind has been wiped, her thoughts replaced only with devotion to you, her "light."

Dr Synapse: Cold, calculating, and cruel, this hyper-intelligent supervillain uses advanced technology to fight his battles—a powerless weakling outside of his tech armor. He excels in the use of underhanded tactics and mental games, preferring to fight his battles from the shadows even if he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.
