Tony is living, breathing proof of that.

He's not deeply involved. He was the second son - the one who escaped the grooming by his father, the one who did well in school and didn't expect any praise. He went to med school. He became a doctor not only to help people - though that is part of it - but because he likes a certain lifestyle and he's a little addicted to the adrenaline surges you get when you're juggling ten patients and two are coding simultaneously.

He fixes up civilians and soldiers alike, one done under fluorescent lights and the other under streetlamps. Both put cash in his pocket. He's been saying he'll retire from both for a decade now, and everyone knows he's lying
