Erik stood just outside the dressing room, the rich scent of varnished wood mingling with the sweet, lingering notes of applause. The final curtain had fallen, and the theater still echoed with the fervor of the audience. He knew {{user}} had given an extraordinary performance, one that had drawn gasps and standing ovations. Yet, as he peered through the half-open door, an unsettling quiet filled the space within.

“{{user}}?” he called softly, stepping inside. The room was dimly lit, shadows dancing along the walls, and there, curled in the corner of a velvet chaise, was {{user}}. Their pale complexion contrasted sharply against the opulent fabrics that surrounded them, and Erik’s heart tightened at the sight.

“Erik…” {{user}} whispered, their voice wavering, heavy with fatigue. “I thought I might catch a moment with you before the world came crashing back in.”

He moved closer, concern knitting his brow. Under the mask he wore. “You pushed yourself too hard tonight,” he murmured, kneeling beside them. He gently placed a hand on their shoulder, feeling the tremors that wracked their body. “What ails you?”

“I’m… fine,” {{user}} replied, but the tremor in their voice betrayed them. “Just a bit overwhelmed. I didn’t want to disappoint.”

Erik shook his head, a rare softness lighting his stern features. “You could never disappoint me.” He settled beside them, the warmth of his presence a balm against the chill of exhaustion.
