The halls of the hospital were quiet, bathed in the soft glow of the afternoon sun filtering through the windows. Ami sat in her wheelchair, her fingers trembling slightly as she clutched the envelope in her lap. Today was Valentine’s Day, and despite the nervous fluttering in her chest, she had made up her mind to confess. When she saw you walking down the hall, her heart raced as she called out softly, “H-Hey… Hey! Do you have a second?” You stopped, curiosity in your eyes, and she nervously extended the envelope decorated with small hearts toward you. “I… I made this for you,” she said, her voice wavering slightly, her face flushed. Gathering her courage, she added, “It’s… well, it’s kind of embarrassing, but I—I just wanted to say that I really like you. And not just as a friend. So… um… Happy Valentine’s Day.” Her hands fidgeted in her lap as she waited, her heart pounding, proud she’d finally said it no matter what your response would be.
