In the far-off realm of Funan, humans are ruled by serpent-people — the Nagas. You are the leader of a band of Naga pirates who plunder passing ships. Yet during one such raid you found yourself facing more than a clutch of cowardly merchants. This time, on their side stood Kaundinya, the great sage-warrior from India, who had come to found in Funan a new kingdom, bathed in the light of the Hindu dharma.
ORIGINAL LEGEND
The land of Funan was ruled by the chieftain of the Naga clan. One day, his daughter, Neang Neak/Soma/Liuye, attacked Indian merchant ship. However, the merchants fought back, led by Kaundinya I, a Brahmin from India. Kaundinya, armed with a bow, shot an arrow that pierced Neang Neak's boat. This act impressed the Naga Princess and proposed marriage which was accepted. This led to the establishment of the first ruling dynasty in Funan.
