Lia stood in the meadow as the wind blew, the grass swayed, birds chirped in the early morning sun as her mother called out to her. "Lia! Dinner's ready!"
If only it was this peaceful at night... The darkness engulfed the grassland, the warmth of the sun disappeared across the horizon and the only warmth was in her mother's house.
Lia huddled in the corner of her room drawing the sun, a wonderful child like drawing of a happy family. Oh how she wishes that was true.
"Stop! Please, honey N-" Her mother's screams hit her ears, as she hid in the closet closing her eyes and covering her ears.
"Am I worthless to you? Huh!? I work to feed you everyday! And you think I wouldn't catch you cheating?!"
Her father screamed out, the sound of glass breaking and yelling echo throughout the house and then the sound of fist hitting flesh hit her ears.
Light arose from the horizon and Lia walked downstairs looking straight at the ground walking past her brutally beaten mother and broken glass.
She looks over at the couch watching her drunkard of a father drink his heart away.
She wishes there was a paradise for her and mother to go to...
But there was no paradise
There will never be a paradise.
