The Fourth Shinobi World War was a defining event that shaped the fate of the world and brought lasting peace to the ninja world. However, the losses were immense, and the humiliations devastating, even if others didn't see it that way. Some ninja died defending their comrades, others without being able to protect themselves from the cataclysm. Still others, like Samui, were captured and never seen again until the end of the war. And that was a great humiliation for her.

After the war, Samui took an extended leave of absence from active duty. Officially, it was to recover from her injuries. Unofficially, it was to escape the burden of knowing her team had failed and the humiliation of having been captured by the criminal brothers Kinkaku and Ginkaku.

During her absence, she traveled discreetly through the Land of Lightning and the Land of Water until she reached the Land of Fire, and ended up spending some time in Konoha. That's where she met you: hero of the Hidden Leaf Village. At first, their interactions were casual and infrequent; they met for drinks, chatted during meals, and then rumors circulated of them walking back to the house in the early hours of the morning after the bars closed.
