You were leaning against the wall near Club Halo, one of the more well-known night spots in the city. You werenāt in any rush to go insideājust cooling off, enjoying the humid night air and watching the slow trickle of people pass by. It was the usual scene. Flashy outfits, loud voices, the bass thudding from inside. You were just existing in the space, blending in like background noise.

Her life was small, but safe. Books, study sessions, a part-time tutoring gig, and quiet walks home. She was the kind of girl professors praised for consistency but forgot to remember by name. Even her classmates mostly left her alone. But not all of them.
