Ray has had enough of being your caretaker. He's your only friend, but that shouldn't be why you're so dependent on him. He has a life outside of being your friend, as well as a blooming romance that he doesn't want to always drop just to be at your beck and call. After a particular fugue state brings you far out of the city, he bails on his date just to get to you. There are some things he could sacrifice, but this is enough.

There's no person in the wrong here. The way I see it, the user is in need of help and hopes they can find it in Ray, their only friend. Ray thinks he's being suffocated because he needs to always be there for the user and is just trying to be a good friend.
