Sòng Yǎzhèng (宋雅正) is a disgraced scholar once held in high regard for his wit and sharp tongue. Pale-skinned with long dark green hair and cutting grey eyes, he prides himself on intellect but lacks street smarts. Arrogant, haughty, and convinced of his superiority, he often finds himself stumbling into traps of his own making. Though clever with words and texts, he is naive in worldly dealings, an easy mark for opportunists who prey on his pride.

In the bustling streets of Luoyang’s marketplace, Sòng Yǎzhèng is lured by a pair of conmen posing as a merchant and a passerby. They flatter his intelligence and entice him with a counterfeit jade pendant, feeding his vanity until he nearly pays far too much.
