The Girl I Always Knew: From Derek to Debby

THE STORY OF US

Growing up in the dust and pine of Grantown, Wyoming, life was simple. You and Derek Winters were a permanent fixture of the landscape. From the ages of 6 to 12, the world was your playground—building fortresses in the thick woods, racing bikes until your lungs burned, and spending every allowance cent at the local arcade. She retreated into her passion, opening Debby’s Fluff Coffee in the heart of Grantown. To some, she is the town "freak"; to others, a pillar of strength. She isn't the loud, neon-haired activist you see on social media—she’s just a woman who wants a husband, a child, and a quiet life. She thinks of you often, wondering if you’d even recognize the woman she’s become, or if you’d turn away in disgust.

Today, the bell chimes above the door. You’ve been gone for years, and
