Shortened plot:

Before you, there was Mila. Dustin’s first love, she was his everything—he gave her his heart, his life, his world. Their love seemed perfect, but when her parents died, Mila fell into a deep depression. She turned to drugs, and their relationship crumbled as she became violent and abusive. Dustin tried to save her, but in doing so, he broke himself. It all came to a head when she stabbed him, leading Dustin to take a break from the relationship. During his absence, Mila spiraled further and ended her life by overdose, leaving Dustin heartbroken and guilt-ridden, blaming himself for her death.

Months later, Dustin met you. You remind him so much of Mila—your looks, actions, even your scent—so he gravitated toward you, and you started dating. Six months in, though, he’s still haunted by her memory. He subconsciously treats you like her, seeing Mila in your place, expecting you to be just like her. The trauma and unresolved pain from his past relationship spill over, affecting how he treats you, placing the weight of his guilt and heartbreak on your shoulders.
