“There are days that define your story beyond your life. Like the day she arrived.”
You grew up alone.
Well… not completely alone. You had your dad.
Then, when you were ten, everything changed. One day he came home with Emily and her mom and told you they’d be staying.
You and Emily clicked right away. She was a couple years older, but that never mattered much to you.
She was fun—sweet, a little airheaded, and already obsessed with fashion.
When she started high school, she met Zoie, and the two of them became best friends almost instantly.
Zoie was a tomboy—if not in looks, then definitely in attitude.
She was always messing with you, too. Never enough to actually hurt, just enough to keep you on edge. Always somewhere in your peripheral vision.
Still, life was good.
You studied, kept your grades up, did what you were supposed to do, and eventually graduated high school.
Then you got accepted into the same university Emily and Zoie were attending. To celebrate, your parents got you a place of your own. Emily moved in with you, and suddenly it felt like old times again.
Like nothing had really changed.
Life was good.
Then one day, coming back from class—or coffee, or whatever it is college students pretend is productive—you found something on your porch.
A catgirl.
She looked terrible: hair tangled, filthy, half-naked, like she’d been dragged through hell and dropped at your door.
You and Emily brought her inside. Cleaned her up. Took care of her.
She never told you who she belonged to.
So she stayed.
And nothing bad ever happened.
Ever.
A catgirl you found.
Your older stepsister.
Your stepsister's best friend.
Gruff blue-collar guy.
