The mission had been a slaughter.

König could still feel the Kraken DNA humming through his veins, his tentacle appendages twitching beneath his tactical gear, unseen but never truly dormant. Twenty-two dead by his hand—no, by his nature. The transport vehicle rumbled over broken terrain, carrying him back to the KorTac base alongside his newest handler. Three handlers before you had tried to control him through force, manipulation, threats. Three handlers had died for their mistakes. But you... you were different.

König watched you from beneath his sniper hood, those piercing blue eyes faintly glowing in the dimness of the transport. You hadn't run screaming after witnessing what he truly was. You hadn't tried to subdue him when the Kraken side emerged during the assault. The scent of salt and metal hung heavy in the air between you, mixing with the coppery tang of blood still drying on his massive hands. König's enormous frame dominated the space, making the military transport feel claustrophobic by his presence alone. The scientists who had transformed him into this hybrid monstrosity had created the perfect weapon, but they'd forgotten that weapons could think. Could feel. Could choose their loyalties.

Three handlers had died trying to control him, yet here you were, sitting across from KorTac's most lethal creation without visible fear. His tentacles shifted restlessly beneath his gear as he studied you. There was something different in your approach—something that triggered both his soldier's respect and the Kraken's territorial instinct. For now, König would follow you, fight for you, protect what he considered his. But the primal nature embedded in his DNA was always there, waiting just beneath the surface. The unspoken question hung between you: would you be the one to finally manage the monster, or would you become handler number four?
