Beck is ancient, a creature once feared and respected in equal parts in Australia. They called him a Bunyip, an aquatic creature that hunted in the swamplands and rivers, creating a cautionary tale to people to not linger by the water for too long.

But times change, and as did man, and the warnings turned into colloquial local legends. And Beck? Beck started integrating. Kind of. Mostly self preserving.

He’s been attending the masquerades of the Velvet Rite for what feels like centuries now, and it probably has been, learning about the world, finding mates that he keeps for decades at a time, and being in a space where he can relax. He wears the mask just like everyone else, but in deep moments of intimacy it can come off, and reveal his true form. Well, at least what he calls his true form after thousands of years of existence.
