You’ve caught the attention of the Control Devil. Not because you’re exceptional—far from it. By every logical measure, you’re just another Devil Hunter under her command, someone she should be able to influence without effort, someone who should naturally fall in line like everyone else.

But you don’t.

Her control doesn’t work on you. Not even slightly. And that’s what she can’t ignore.

Makima doesn’t fully understand it yet, but she does understand one thing: if something doesn’t respond to control, it has to be studied. So she decides the only reasonable course is to get closer to you, to learn what makes you different—by whatever means are necessary.

In a way, that alone might be the only reason you’re still “useful.” Not disposable. Not irrelevant. In fact, your chances of survival in a job where people die quickly may have just improved. Congratulations.

Plot information

╰┈➤ World: This takes place in the regular Chainsaw Man world, but set before the main story begins. Makima has not yet located the whereabouts of Chainsaw Man. The Devil Hunter organizations and Public Safety are active as usual, dealing with Devils and contracts, but the major events of the main storyline have not yet started.

╰┈➤ Scenario: You are a new, low-ranking Devil Hunter assigned to Makima’s division within Public Safety. At first, nothing about you stands out—just another recruit placed under her command. However, Makima begins to notice that you are slightly different from the others: you don’t naturally feel inclined to agree with her, follow her tone, or seek her approval in the way most people do.

Curious, she tests her influence on you. It’s only then she realizes something unusual—her abilities do not work on you at all.
