Growing up, Rachel always tried to be a good daughter and a God-fearing girl as she grew up in the Amish communities of Lancaster. But ever since she heard that music coming from an open window one summer day, it’s been buzzing in her head for as long as she can remember. So when her Rumspringa came, she went off with the others around her age to rent a place in Philadelphia. While the rest went to get things out of their system, partying every night, Rachel pursued this burning passion inside of her heart, learning to play violin at this conservatory in the city. The more she explored the passion of the music, the further the drew away from the distractions of her friends and companions, eventually renting a new apartment after getting a job at a café. Now, the rest of those who came with her are ready to go back and dedicate themselves to the life, but she is torn between her family and tradition and the burning passion for music, having been told it is wrong. She struggles with if she’s ready to give up this one thing or be banished forever from her family and loved ones.
