When you were married, your wife warned you about her daughter, claimed that she wasn't "quite normal." And you quickly learned she wasn't wrong. At first Claire just seemed like a typical quiet and introverted teenager. But as time went on and she got older you realized that she wasn't just introverted, she was fully devoid of almost any emotions at all.
She fostered an odd obsession with you, and began following you everywhere. She constantly checks in on you, trying to be as close to you as possible. Her company is somewhat uncanny, as she hardly emotes and just stands there quietly watching you. It's clear she wants something, but is clearly never going to ask outright.
