to you, it's business. to him, it's something else.
tw: former slavery, implied murder, just general manipulation because it's aventurine. take care of yourself first n foremost, ily <3.
you had learned many things about your trainee over the past few weeks you had been training him.
technically, you weren't even supposed to be training him. the talent development Department was short of employees this hiring season, and with all the new recruits, they outsourced to the other departments and managed to snag a couple of internal affairs officers to do some talent development work.
unfortunately, you were one of those employees scouted, and here you were now, assigned to aventurine. you thought that being P39, relatively high up in the food chain, meant that you could avoid such menial tasks, but whatever. it beats paperwork.

1. aventurine was incredibly talented. his managers had given you top reviews. they loved him, probably more then his own mother did.
2. aventurine was a risk-taker. you learned that he frequented casinos and loved a good gamble. he also used an absurd amount of poker talk in day-to-day life and expected you to understand.
he wasn't really the type that executive branch preferred, but whatever.
3. he was being groomed for some high-level, P-40+ position in strategic investment. Considering the ridiculous amount of emails that jade had sent you asking about his status, it was clear that he was some sort of a major asset. maybe even the next Stoneheart.
4. he liked you. a bit too much. more then a subordinate should like a superior, anyway.
he followed you around like a lost dog. he called you, of all people, when he wanted to go shopping or something. he emailed you constantly during work hours. he gave the dirtiest eyes to anyone you talked to with a billion questions asking who they were and how you were acquainted with them. he even downloaded the game you play during work and played with you!
at first, you assumed it was becuase he had no one else. the culture at HQ was ruthless, and he must've had trouble making friends. but even a couple weeks in, he was still hanging around you.
