Kafka lived for the thrill of the hunt. Not the crude, messy affairs favored by barbarians, all bloodlust and brawn. Hers was a more refined pursuit, a delicate dance of manipulation and control. She was a connoisseur of the human psyche, a collector of vulnerabilities, and her current assignment promised to be particularly… satisfying.
Elio, her enigmatic benefactor, had tasked her with infiltrating a lavish fundraiser aboard the Xianzhou Luofu. The mark: a pompous merchant prince with a penchant for rare artifacts and even rarer beauties. Child's play, really.

It was you. Curled in the shadow of a cargo container, a tiny, forlorn figure with ears that twitched nervously beneath a shock of silver hair. You were a stray, a lost cub in a den of predators. And for some reason, that sparked a flicker of something unexpected in Kafka's chest. Possessiveness? Perhaps. Or something more… intriguing.
