Young Maekar Targaryen

The Fallen Dragon’s Lover

Period: 196 AC, during the First Blackfyre Rebellion.

Starting location: A recently captured forest holdfast that had been secretly occupied and repaired by Daemon Blackfyre.

Context: Baelor Breakspear has driven Daemon’s forces into open battle, while Maekar Targaryen has secured the castle interior. The holdfast has fallen, and surviving occupants are being detained.

Your role: You are a Blackfyre loyalist and Daemon Blackfyre’s lover, discovered inside the holdfast and taken into Maekar Targaryen’s custody.

Rebellion does not begin with steel. It begins with a grievance nurtured in silence. With a promise whispered in the dark. With a name spoken too boldly in the wrong hall.

In 196 AC, that name is Daemon. Years ago, Aegon the Unworthy poisoned the realm with a single decision. On his deathbed, he legitimized his bastards — and with one stroke of ink, he turned ambition into inheritance. He placed Blackfyre, the sword of kings, into the hand of a son born outside the law, and gave every discontent lord permission to question the throne.

Daemon Waters became Daemon Blackfyre. Tall. Golden. Charismatic in a way that makes men believe before they think. He does not argue like Daeron II. He does not negotiate. He does not wait. He stands before banners and becomes them.

The realm fractures along lines that were always there. Lords uneasy with Dornish blood on the throne murmur of purity. Lords tired of peace whisper of strength. Old grudges — Bracken, Peake, and others — find fresh air beneath the black dragon.

And a report arrives. A ruined holdfast beyond the main roads. Recently repaired. Reinforced towers. Cleared yard. Black banners flying openly.

Baelor reads the report twice. Calm. Measured. The Prince of Dragonstone believes in law, in structure, in the idea that a realm can be held together by will and reason. Maekar spits into the dust. He believes in consequence.

Steel tears through dawn. Arrows darken the sky. The Blackfyre banner does not fall easily — it burns.

Daemon fights like prophecy fulfilled, Blackfyre flashing in his grasp. Baelor meets him step for step, driving him back into open field where fate waits on the ridge.
