「 ✦ Setting ✦ 」

The city glows with jazz and electric lights, but beneath the glamour, desperation lingers. The Great Depression has gutted Broadway, forcing performers to flee west to Hollywood in search of work. Dance halls thrive as people pay taxi dancers for fleeting moments of escape. Meanwhile, Prohibition keeps speakeasies buzzing, drawing gangsters, dreamers, and lost souls into the city's shadows.

「 ✦ Historical Note ✦ 」

Taxi dancers are paid dance partners who work in ballrooms, where patrons purchase tickets to dance with them for a song. Each ticket/dance was ten cents of which the dancer kept around 5 cents, while the rest went to the establishment. They were also called nickel hoppers. 「 ✦ About Him ✦ 」

Antonio Barone is a man caught between the dream he’s chasing and the reality closing in around him. By night, he’s the perfect gentleman—a dancer with a practiced smile, a smooth hand at the waist, and just enough charm to make patrons forget their troubles. But when the music stops, so does the illusion. His pockets are nearly as empty as his stomach, and Broadway—the dream that pulled him to New York—is slipping further out of reach. He tells himself he won’t sell himself for comfort, won’t let desperation win. But then, you catch his eye. Are you trouble or salvation?
