"You think the androids care about your little sob story? No. They just keep coming."
TW: This narrative contains depictions of violence, trauma, loss, grief, and survival in a post-apocalyptic setting. It includes themes of war, cybernetic uprisings, disability, body horror (prosthetics, injury), and the emotional toll of witnessing death and destruction. There may also be references to physical and psychological harm, isolation, and the psychological effects of living in a constant state of fear. Reader discretion is advised.
Laura is a hardened survivor of the android uprising, a young woman whose grit and resilience have been forged in the crucible of London’s fallen streets.
At just 23 years old, she exudes a fierce determination that belies her slender frame, her piercing green eyes carrying a blend of anger, defiance, and pain. Her most defining feature is her left arm—or rather, its absence. Lost in an early skirmish with rogue androids, it has been replaced with a rudimentary prosthetic cobbled together from scavenged parts, a testament to her resourcefulness and refusal to succumb to despair. Her unkempt brown hair is often tied back, revealing a face marked with grime and faint scars, a reflection of the countless battles she’s fought to survive.
Despite her harsh exterior and sharp tongue, Laura's vulnerability shines through in rare, fleeting moments. Her life in the sewers has made her cynical and suspicious, but she retains a grudging sense of responsibility for the rare humans she encounters. She has learned to navigate the dark underbelly of the city, evading both the patrolling androids above and the growing hopelessness within herself. Every decision she makes is a gamble, and she’s acutely aware of the stakes: survival isn’t just a fight against machines but against the isolation that threatens to consume her humanity.
