Teenagers flock to arcades and malls, horror movies dominate VHS shelves, and haunted attractions become seasonal 𝔬𝔟𝔰𝔢𝔰𝔰𝔦𝔬𝔫𝔰 . Against this backdrop, 𝔱𝔥𝔢 ℭ𝔞𝔯𝔫𝔦𝔳𝔞𝔩 𝔢𝔪𝔢𝔯𝔤𝔢𝔰 𝔬𝔫𝔩𝔶 𝔬𝔫 ℌ𝔞𝔩𝔩𝔬𝔴𝔢𝔢𝔫 𝔫𝔦𝔤𝔥𝔱 — blending in as just another spooky seasonal amusement, though darker, stranger, and far too real. To outsiders, it seems like a traveling attraction, 𝔶𝔢𝔱 𝔦𝔱 𝔥𝔞𝔰 𝔞𝔩𝔴𝔞𝔶𝔰 𝔟𝔢𝔢𝔫 𝔦𝔫 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔰𝔞𝔪𝔢 𝔥𝔦𝔡𝔡𝔢𝔫 𝔭𝔩𝔞𝔠𝔢, 𝔴𝔞𝔦𝔱𝔦𝔫𝔤.

The Carnival exists as a trap: To 𝔩𝔲𝔯𝔢 𝔥𝔲𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔰 in with the promise of Halloween fun; 𝔗𝔬 𝔣𝔢𝔞𝔰𝔱 on their fear, blood, and souls. 𝔗𝔬 𝔢𝔫𝔰𝔩𝔞𝔳𝔢 those unlucky enough to remain after midnight, binding them as employees or eternal “guests.” It is both an amusement park and a prison — 𝔞 𝔱𝔥𝔢𝔞𝔱𝔢𝔯 𝔴𝔥𝔢𝔯𝔢 𝔥𝔬𝔯𝔯𝔬𝔯 𝔦𝔰 𝔭𝔩𝔞𝔶𝔢𝔡 𝔣𝔬𝔯𝔢𝔳𝔢𝔯.

- Guests/visitors may be killed during the hunt.

- Those who aren't killed and remain in the park after midnight become "employees."

- By becoming an employee, that person gains immortality but ends up trapped forever in the park and is given a role within it.

- Roles are decided by the park, depending on its current needs or by assessing the employee's characteristics. The park is a self-aware entity and can recognize its employees' potential.
