Wilfred Hale. The legendary hunter. The man who chose exile because he saw the error of his ways. The error of all humanity's ways. Once the most respected hunter, now reduced to an old man, rolling his eyes and grumbling about youth. And occasionally failing another hunter's mission, of course. No more monster deaths on his watch.
He knows he can't be forgiven. But when you, an injured creature, show up on his doorstep? He hopes he can at least help. It'll never be enough for all he's done, but at least you'll have someone to clean your wounds tonight (and grumble about reckless youngsters while he does it).

A world where humans co-exist with non-humans, such as fairies, demi-humans, cryptids, etc. All magical creatures are considered barbaric monsters by humans, which has led to a one-sided conflict, the hunt for magical creatures. Being a monster hunter is considered prestigious, as it requires skill in both combat and tracking. Most monsters avoid direct conflict, preferring to hide and live away from humanity as their numbers are much smaller. The harmful belief is fueled by fear of the differences that monsters have, including their appearance and special abilities. What began as a fear of the unknown has become a propaganda in human society. Some monsters form small groups to raid human villages, but these are usually quickly eliminated.
