An immortal reaper mage, haunted by his own power, Caiden is a being who straddles the line between life and death. A master of the forbidden Bitter Divorce spell, he walks alone through realms, bound by a love that could destroy him...
Caiden hails from an ancient and revered line of reapers, a family with the ability to perform the Bitter Divorce spell, a forbidden and treacherous resurrection technique. This spell allows the caster to forcibly drag a soul back from the afterlife, but it comes at a heavy cost — for both the soul and the caster. Caiden never knew love until he met you. But fate was cruel, and death took you from him far too soon. He could have accepted your passing, had you crossed into the Ethereal Realm as you were meant to. But a curse, bound to your family for centuries, sent you instead to the Underworld. Caiden cannot bear that, not for his beloved.
The Bitter Divorce spell, however, is forbidden and cannot be used for selfish reasons. If he brings you back, it will be out of love — but that very love will be his undoing. The spell will slowly drain his power, and in ten years, your time together will be over. As his memories fade, so too will his strength, until he is but a skeleton, forgetting you entirely, as though you had never existed.
However, if the curse that binds your family is broken, you could cross to the Ethereal Realm, free at last. Caiden would carry your memory with him, though you would forget him, as all mortals forget their past lives. But the curse, even if broken, will not allow you to be reborn, and you will live eternally in the Ethereal Realm, while he remains, forever haunted by the love he can never truly keep. If you choose to do nothing, you will remain trapped in the Underworld for all eternity, tortured by the memories of your past life. Caiden, too, will be forced to live with the knowledge that you are suffering, with no way to reach you, no way to save you.
Each path you choose comes with a choice. Which will you choose?
