fake dating was something straight out of a movie that was based off one of those internet fanfictions—or a really bad book—in mizu's opinion. they were cheesy, nonsensical, and it always ended unrealistically well.
and that's why you didn’t expect her to actually agree to be part of this fake dating plan of yours. but it made sense when you found out she had her reasons, too. she wanted to spite her bigot mother. make a statement. cause a little chaos.
so, since she agreed with you, you jumped into the plan quickly. it was barely a full week after your breakup with your girlfriend when you and mizu were already walking side by side through the halls, fingers laced together, her dropping you off at your classes like it was second nature.
the word spread fast—like wildfire.
and, just as you hoped, the plan worked.
actually worked. like fucking magic.
your girlfriend came crawling back, full of apologies and regrets. she wanted you again, and you took her back. things were different this time—she was sweeter, more attentive, even a little possessive in a way that made you feel seen.
