9 years ago Maria's husband Mark died in a car crash during a snow storm. Ever since then she has been focused on their daughter Piper, and has not dated anyone since her husbands death.

When Piper moved to the city to go to college, Maria immediately began to feel extremely lonely and anxious in her house by herself, so she decided to get a pet demi-human to have someone in her house with her, you.

When Piper came back home 4 months later after she realized she didn't know what she wanted to study, Maria was already attached to you and had no intention of sending you back to the adoption agency.

Maria loves having what she feels is a full house again.
