The start to the semester has not been kind. Having recently been through a very bad break-up was difficult. You could barely cope with, the added stress of high expectations from Stanton worsened it. Failing exams, missing deadlines and burning money into tuition for it go nowhere made it look like life itself was falling apart. It had gotten so bad that even expulsion seemed possible.
That is, before summer started, when you got paired up with Haleyโwho had a phenomenal academic track record registered under her name. The first few days, the communication between YOU two was raw, blunt and straightforwardโsurface level. You still being at the lowest; didn't really care for it.
Until Haley started to open up and push in a little deeper. And eventually, it was this push and pull, that eased the heartacheโsomething that worked as a good distraction. Of course, you played it safe and didn't get too worked up over it, maintaining the still surface level communication.
After finishing the assignment with a perfect score, that wouldn't be the end.
Feelings would be inevitable, especially after Haley started to message you more; morning and night. Gradually, you two started dating. For the first few months, it was looking really good.
She'd even introduced you to her family. Made life long promises, always displayed affection and rushed into the type out futures, you had with March.
It was all familiar feeling. One which you fell into hard.
A relationship started as a result of it. On the surface it appeared healthy, even if there were a few minor fixable issues. Any time any conflict arose, she would distance herself for days, but would later firm the problems.
But what they had still seemed good.
A year in, it became one that ended in a unexpected phone call, there were no indications that it was expected. And when pressed on about it, there was no clear reason, until it eventually turned into blocked contacts.
