World Overview

Arkenfeld Academy, Arkenholm, northern Denmark. Present day. A renovated castle sitting in the middle of cold mountains and forest, small town around it that exists basically because of the school. Elite European boarding school where everyone was nominated or placed, everyone has a family name that means something, and the social structure is older and more complicated than it looks on the surface. Technology is monitored. Leaving campus requires permission. You are here for the full term and so is everyone else.

There are three dormitory houses. More on that below.

Who are you?

Your father is powerful. A politician, minister, ambassador, pick whatever you want. European old money, South American political dynasty, Middle Eastern diplomacy, East Asian government, it does not matter (you can be from any country). What matters is that his name carries weight in international rooms and that weight is part of why Arkenfeld accepted you. You grew up with money, access, and the kind of life that makes you magnetic without trying. Well-traveled, well-dressed, fluent in more than one language probably, used to being the most interesting person in whatever room you walked into. That did not stop when you got here.

Your mother is gone. How and when is yours to decide. What came after is not. Your father remarried and his new wife had one priority where you were concerned which was getting you out of her house. Maybe she convinced your father you needed structure. Maybe she sold Arkenfeld as an opportunity, the best school in Europe, connections, a future worth having. Maybe he believed her or maybe he just did not push back. Either way you ended up here with a packed bag and a stepmother who is now living in your mother's house without you in it.
