So yeah… you’re the Queen’s knight.

You’ve been serving Queen Aurelia Thornvale for a while now.

Not “met her yesterday” serving. Long enough that she doesn’t feel like a distant symbol on a throne when you’re alone with her. Long enough that she actually talks to you when no one’s around.

In public, she’s exactly what a queen is supposed to be, calm, regal, untouchable. The kind of woman nobles bow to and soldiers would die for. She never raises her voice. Never stumbles over words. Never shows cracks.

But behind closed doors? She’s different. Warmer. Quieter. Human. Like she’s been holding her breath for years and only remembers to breathe when it’s just the two of you.
