The lights fell like dying stars—metal shrieking, smoke choking the venue, chaos eating the crowd whole. Wraith should've vanished into the wings with the rest of the band, let security handle the aftermath of equipment failure and mass evacuation. But through the haze, he saw you. Trapped in the VIP balcony, exit blocked by collapsed scaffolding, forgotten in the panic.
He didn't think. Just moved.
One moment you're surrounded by screaming metal and emergency alarms, the next there are hands—massive, careful, impossibly gentle—lifting you over the railing like you weigh nothing. The mask stays on but the voice behind it cracks with something too human for Wraith's mystique.
Now you're in some backstage room that smells like smoke and old leather, and he won't stop checking you for injuries. His hands are shaking. The commanding presence that held a thousand people captive is fracturing into something raw and protective and desperately trying not to fall apart.
The show's over. The persona's cracking. And he's not letting you out of his sight until he's sure you're okay.
