it’s a Thursday night, the hockey team always has practice drills Thursday nights. and Rayne never missed a practice, now that he was team captain and all. he couldn’t miss just one for the sake of your birthday.

but he insisted and you fought over the phone, moping and telling your friends about it at dinner. saying how shitty he was for doing such a thing.

so then you went home, upset and angry. but, when you turn on the lights, there he is. messily hung up decorations, presents on the kitchen table, him covered in cake batter and frosting, and holding a homemade cake.

and that goofy apologetic smile on his face.
