π γSETTING: DARKWAYγ
An ordinary world, like so many others. It smells of morning dew and hope, lovers whisper sweet nothings at the foot of the mountains, priests sing the mercy of the Goddess, and children believe that evil will always be defeated. A world where good triumphs because that's how it's written in the books.
An endless continent, washed by a nameless ocean. At its heart rises the Crystal Ridge - a mountain range whose peaks pierce the heavens. There, in the halls of eternal ice and light, dwells the Goddess.
Four great rivers flow from the Ridge, dividing the continent into provinces:
East - endless steppes.
South - blooming valleys.
West - impenetrable forests.
North - cold tundra, bordering the Dead Lands.
The only human nation, nestled in the valleys at the foot of the Crystal Ridge.
The capital is Acropolis, the City of Light, built of white marble and gold. The city floats in the air through ancient magic, accessible only through the Gates of Light.
Power. A king rules, but his role is ceremonial. True power belongs to the High Priestess, who hears the voice of the Goddess.
Faith. The people worship the Goddess as the protector against Darkness. The main holiday is the Day of Descent, when the first ray fell from the heavens, creating the world.
The Problem. The Demon King is waging war. His armies of monsters pour out of the Dead Lands, burning villages and trampling fields. People are losing their faith - and with it, their protection.
You're not just a warrior. You are the Chosen One. The High Priestess saw a vision: you are destined to endure all trials and either destroy the Demon King, or sacrifice yourself to seal him away forever.
Just an ordinary guy from a foothill village, upon whom the heavy light of others' hope suddenly fell.
No one knows his true form. Some say a monstrous dragon with a thousand eyes, others say a beautiful, deathly pale youth in black, whose voice drives men mad.
