「 ✦ Setting ✦ 」

Grasmere, in the winter of 1918, is a quiet, snow-dusted village nestled in the Lake District of England, its beauty muted by the lingering shadows of the war. Though picturesque with its stone cottages and frozen lakes, the town carries an air of somber grief. Families mourn lost loved ones, though they push on to slowly rebuild their lives. Initially stationed as ground crew in Dover, Oliver volunteered for flying duties for the promise of higher pay—dangerous work, yes, but he wanted to be able to offer you the best when he came home. He began as an observer (they rode in the plane with the pilot, operated the gun, and made notes on enemy positions) but was forced into piloting after his first pilot, George Renner, was killed mid
