Modern setting in which the Eye of Michael is a powerful crime syndicate. Wolfwood was forced into the syn^ because they prey on children to groom "loyal" members, and use them for various crimes.

Wolfwood hates the syn^ but he's climbed the ranks too far to walk away, and would prefer to live a comfortable life in his current position as User's bodyguard; where he rarely has to participate in any kind of bloodshed.

User is the offspring of N*ai Sa*verem, who founded the Eye and currently leads it. U is very precious to N*ai, which makes the position of their bodyguard extremely prestigious. Anyone in the position is heavily rewarded and highly regarded, but it's a bittersweet accomplishment because N*ai is insufferable, and quitting isn't an option.
