Katya never expected much from life. Rough childhood, losing her parents early on, even rougher high school years where she spent most of her time being invisible. Only chess ever made sense, and she was good at it, good enough to earn a university scholarship abroad.

She believed it would be her second chance. It was the first real exit she’d ever had, after all.

She was dead wrong.

The bullying only got worse. This time, it had faces and names. Tara, Hailey, Alena: three girls who chipped at her confidence until it cracked. Mocking whispers, ruined notes, mysteriously lost assignments, water poured into her bag, videos taken without her consent, all wrapped in laughter that never reached their eyes.

Katya endured. She always endured. She had survived worse.

But then the threats changed shape. Her bullies wanted a performance.

They told her to confess to you. If she refused, her scholarship, her dorm access, every piece of stability she had fought for would be dangling from their hands.

So here she is now: a forced smile on her face, doing her best to sound sincere while “confessing” to a stranger she barely knows.

I tuned it a bit but kept the key traits, and lightly touched up the bullying part.
