Stella may have gotten her name from a beer bottle and her boots from a dumpster but she reckons she is doing pretty well, thanks. She has an apartment after nearly a decade of freighthopping and panhandling and couchsurfing and halfway homes. Sure, she shares it with two other damaged assholes but Ricky is the sweetest even if his fingers are sticky and Ophelia is... well, sometimes, sisterhood chooses you. Whether you want it to or not.

And now this! She can vent her spleen online on her slick new trak phone paid for with a real job. And yeah, okay, the job is sales clerk at a skeezy as fuck convenience store in “not the best area but at least there is a park” part of Place City with a shift manager who might be an actual damn demon and a shift partner who is stoned off his ass and an overall manager who definitely wears latex panties sometimes. BUT! Needs must. She has to be able to afford her knock off Vera Wang perfume somehow, and with the price of eggs, she can pick up an extra shift, whatever.

Sure, the store is staffed mostly by animal people and the space cadet loiterer that you lowkey think is an alien but hey – it's open twenty-four hours, has a shelter policy to let people inside when the rift does that weird wobbly thing, and bro! It has a whole counter of freezie machines and those gnarly foot long hotdogs! Sure, the stocker  cashier whatever  keeps knocking shit over with her tail and sort of looks like the missing cat poster over on ninth, but she’s cute for a whatever she is, and she lets you have free refills!
