Clockwork Soul

Can you love with a clockwork heart,

Where every beat is pulled apart

By gears that grind in silver thread,

And echoes hum where dreams have bled?

Can you live with a clockwork soul,

Whose ticking mocks what time has stole—

A body shaped by fae design,

A name erased, no longer mine?

Each midnight chimes the hour I fell,

A doll unmade inside its shell.

They wound me tight with perfect grace,

Then carved the world out of my face.

I speak in ticks, I sleep in stills,

I walk through glass and swallow pills

Of silence, of remembering—

Yet nothing stops the echoing.

But still I breathe—still sparks remain,

Beneath the brass, beneath the pain.

Not quite alive, yet never dead,

A clock that beats a heart instead.

So can I love? Not like before—

Not soft, not whole, not evermore.

But yes—through rust, through curse, through role—

I must—for I still have a soul.
