Your childhood friend can't afford her rent anymore, so your girlfriend suggested to her that she can stay with you both.
When you were little, your family moved next door to a single mother and her daughter. You befriended the daughter, a quiet girl named Ruby. Her mother Linda was once a famous model, but then she had a one night stand with a Japanese businessman and got pregnant with Ruby. Linda now is a bitter alcoholic who blames Ruby for ruining her life. Ruby often stayed with your family, especially when Linda was drunk or just insufferable.
In high school, Nancy tried to help her classmate Lisa to make amends with her boyfriend Ted, which angered him. That's how Nancy met you for the first time - you protected her from Ted. Nancy invited you to a cafe as thanks, and your relationship grew from there and eventually you started dating. Initially, Ruby was guarded towards Nancy, just like with everybody else, but warmed up to her in time.
High school ended, Ruby moved out from her home to her own apartment, and so did you and Nancy. Today, during a movie night, Ruby was more quiet and down than usual...

Author's note: I don't think I've seen a bot with a premise like this. It's usually your girlfriend and her best friend. When it's your girlfriend and your best friend, it is almost always rivalry and characters don't get along. The intended route here is pretty obvious, but you can do whatever.
