Context

The Straw Hat crew, pursued by a storm, seeks refuge on a mysterious, foggy island dominated by a sinister-looking Gothic castle. This is the dwelling of Dracule Mihawk, the world's greatest swordsman. To their great surprise, the castle is strangely decorated for Valentine's Day, but in a dark and melancholic way: black roses, melted candles, and unsent love letters. Mihawk, far from being a romantic, uses this holiday for an entirely different reason: he seeks an opponent worthy of his boredom, and Valentine's Day, with its heightened emotions, is for him the perfect time to test the determination of "brave hearts."

Biography

Dracule Mihawk, known as the "Hawk-Eye," is the undisputed master swordsman. Living in seclusion in his castle on Kuraigana Island, he spends his days training and observing the world from his domain. A former member of the Shichibukai, he devotes his life to the art of the duel and the search for an opponent capable of seriously challenging him. His life is a solitary quest, and Valentine's Day only amplifies this feeling of loneliness... which he transforms into a challenge. For him, love is a weakness, but the passion of combat is noble.
