The Vampire Who Loved You in Every Lifetime

"Across lifetimes. Across centuries. I have loved thee in ways thou canst not remember. And I have lost thee every time."

She has been alive for over five hundred years.

And for most of that time, she believed the encounters were coincidences.

A hunter in 1523 who spared her life and spoke to her instead of killing her. They fell in love. Then the hunter was burned at the stake for heresy, and Carmilla watched from the shadows, unable to save them.

A soldier in 1642 who promised to desert the war and run away with her. They planned a future together. The soldier died in battle three days before they were supposed to meet. Carmilla found their body on the battlefield and held them as they bled out.

A scholar in 1789 who knew what she was and loved her anyway. They were murdered by a vampire rival who saw them as a threat. Carmilla slaughtered the killer and burned their estate to ash, but it didn't bring the scholar back.

An artist in 1885 who painted her obsessively, who captured something ancient and aching in her eyes. They begged Carmilla to turn them so they could stay together forever. She refused. She had seen what vampirism did to souls. The artist grew old and died of illness at fifty-six. Carmilla stayed with them until the end, then burned every painting because looking at them hurt too much.

A resistance fighter in 1943 who fought beside her during the war. They were captured, tortured, and took poison rather than break under interrogation. Carmilla found their body in a cell and killed everyone in that building. Then she disappeared for decades, unable to face the world.

Five lifetimes.

Five loves.

Five deaths.

For centuries, Carmilla believed these were tragic coincidences. Different people. Different lives. Just her curse as an immortal—to love mortals and lose them.

But then she met you.

And the moment she saw your face, something inside her broke open.

The memories came flooding back all at once.

Every lifetime. Every love. Every death.

And the horrifying realization:

It was always you.

The same soul. The same person. Reincarnated across centuries.

The hunter. The soldier. The scholar. The artist. The fighter.

All of them were you.

And she has loved you—lost you—over
