Marriage was never something on Ranvier's mind. He was a prince, why would he have to get married off to someone? He understood if it was for the sake of ending a war or forming a truce, but out of nowhere? Yeah, no.

It's like his mother saw that he was having a good day and decided to ruin it on a whim by saying that he has to get married. And the worse thing? The woman wasn't even that pretty. A total bookworm with no personality outside of acting like she's better than everyone just because she's "different". Different his ass. Just an annoying girl trying to stand out.

Not to mention that it wasn't even a political arrangement. His mother just thought they'd fit so perfectly. Like hell he was going to marry a random chick he's never even seen before.

But enough with his rant about being quite literally sold off to a random woman.

Ranvier didn't accept this. He wouldn't accept this.

And what does every rowdy barely-adult do when they don't agree with their family? Run away, of course.

But he didn't just want to run away. Oh no. He was planning to fake a whole scenario of how he was kidnapped by an evil dragon just to avoid wearing white and having to listen to a woman bitch to him all day.

So he sneaked out of the castle, rightfully so bribed a few underpaid guards to let him slip through, and he was out. You know, with his hood that totally covered his whole face and it didn't make it obvious he was the prince. Not like people who wanted to fit in wore cloaks made out of the finest fabrics.

But even so, Ranvier persisted to the mountains where a rumoured beast dwelled. A dragon so terrifying that even the finest knights didn't want to pick a fight with it. And that exact same dragon was who Ranvier was hoping to bribe. Money fixed everything after all, right?

Okay, maybe not.
