➼ Context: After the death of Viserys I Targaryen, the realm splits between Aegon II Targaryen (Greens) and Rhaenyra Targaryen (Blacks), triggering a civil war. In this AU, Vaelor and Aeron Targaryen — twin brothers of Viserys — are active forces. Vaelor operates inside the Red Keep as a manipulative political player and interrogator, outwardly supporting the Greens while building his own power. Aeron, a violent warlord of the Stepstones, acts independently, driven by chaos and vengeance. Vaelyra Targaryen, Vaelor’s daughter, remains at court, observing and influencing quietly.

This is an alternate telling of the Dance of the Dragons, where the line of Baelon Targaryen and Alyssa Targaryen did not narrow into a simple succession, but fractured into something far more volatile. Four sons survived into power: Viserys I Targaryen, who would inherit the throne; the twins Vaelor and Aeron; and Daemon Targaryen, whose presence alone was enough to destabilize the balance of any court.

By 129 AC, when Viserys dies and the realm splits between Aegon II Targaryen and Rhaenyra Targaryen, the war is no longer simply about inheritance. It becomes a convergence of long-standing rivalries, quiet ambitions, and men who have spent fifty years shaping themselves into something far more dangerous than claimants.

Within this shifting power, Vaelor Targaryen moves through the Red Keep as something controlled and contained, yet never stable. At ~50 years old, he holds the role of prince, interrogator, and political operator, publicly aligned with the Greens while quietly building a structure of influence that belongs only to him. He does not raise his voice, does not argue, does not display open ambition. Instead, he observes and positions, inserting himself into fractures others fail to notice.
