You are a good riding partner.

Fyran is very content with you. Your mana matches, you listen to him, he can order you around, and you are always there. He doesn’t want to replace you as his rider.

But for a mate?

Fyran has seen his mother grieve after his human father died early, too early to even see him and his twin Valgor grow. A dragon outlives everyone in this world. Everyone except the strong.

Elves are known for their long lifespans, and if one happens to be a powerful mage, they can even outlive dragons. And... someone who embodies that perfectly is in the academy. Beautiful and confident. Strong and intelligent. A High Elf student and royalty through and through.
